Travel: A weekend at Gradonna Mountain Restort

4. August 2016

You might have seen that we spent the last weekend in the mountains, in East Tyrol to be exact. I actually have never been to this part of Tyrol and was really stunned by the beautiful nature and the mountains there. Starting Friday afternoon we headed to Austria for a babymoon stay at Gradonna Mountain Resort in Kals in East Tyrol. The resort is part of the Green Pearls Unique Places collection, a membership programme of amazing and sustainable hotels and resorts, which are can be found not only in Europe but all over the world. But you really don’t need to travel far to find amazing places. Our destination was just three hours away from Munich and can be easily reached by car. Getting closer to the hotel felt like you are part of a Bond movie with modern architecture and use of regional materials like wood and stone, the hotel which is situated at Tauern National Park is a true gem.Gradonna Mountain Resort Gradonna_ Gradonna_4 Gradonna_3

Coming into our room one of the guests got a little surprise. Our Teddy even had a snack box waiting for him to be eaten. The resort is a dog friendly house and even some activity suggestions, like hike trails, were included into the welcome package. Which we had to test straight away on Saturday morning with Teddy. He loves the mountains in general and he wasn’t amazed when we were about to leave on Sunday.Gradonna_8Gradonna Gradonna_13The room itself, just like the rest of the resort is decorated with a lot of wood but without loosing it’s clean and modern appeal. Next to the balcony there is a little nook which is perfect to launch, relax and just enjoy the view over the resort or simply cuddle with Teddy. Gradonna_22Gradonna Mountain Resort Gradonna_18

After a sporty morning we headed for the pool and enjoyed the amazing weather there. Leaving our place only to explore the bathing pound and to get some drinks at the bar (of course alcohol free ones for me!).

And if you are not that lucky with the weather you can enjoy the indoor spa, which has some amazing treatments. Even a special room is reserved for yoga classes and I’m for sure joining one of them the next time. Gradonna_6 Gradonna_7

And for sure food plays a big rolle at Gradonna. Starting the day with a great breakfast, we were left with nothing to be desired. Ok, may be more space in my belly to eat even more 🙂 And the day ended with a regional menu dinner and some regional specialities. My highlight were these apricot dumplings. And if you are like us can’t get enough of good food there is even a shop to shop all the regional products. Gradonna_21Gradonna_20After an amazing and really relaxing weekend we (and Teddy even more) were sad to leave the Mountain Resort. But will be coming back for sure, then as a little bigger family.

* Thanks to Gradonna Mountain Resort and Grean Pearls Unique Places for the invitation!

Die Bilder sehen unheimlich schön und einladend aus. man spürt auf den Bildern förmlich die Ruhe die das Hotel ausstrahlt und die wunderschöne Gegend.
