Places: SABON Store Opening

26. July 2015
Sabon Store Munich

This week Munich celebrated the opening of the second German SABON Store. The brand which is named after the hebrew word for soap, SABON, was founded by  Sigal Kotler-Levi and Avi Piatok in Tel Aviv in 1997. The brand runs over 130 stores all over the world and Munich is now one of the locations. Which is a must if you enjoy beauty product, that are unique as much as I do. When entering the store you are brought to another world, so incredibly nice smelling and visually appealing. Based on the idea of taking a basic product, such as soap and transforming it into something very luxurious and premium. Until now the concept of delicatessen is being lived in each store. While you buy a piece of soap it will be cut from a bigger block, weighed in front of you and packaged into silk paper. Only the best ingredients, like oils, salt from the dead sea are being used for the products, which are packaged in beautiful bottles and jars. I was surprised by the unusual scent compositions like, patchouli-lavender-vanilla or apple-lavender. Both are incredible and one of a kind and can be tested in store at the  well in the middle. But be careful you might not want to leave the store without taking home few more products than intended.
During the opening I was able to interview Ifat Pasternak, Vice President Marketing Director of SABON. Scroll down to read what I asked her…

Dear Ifat, what would you recommend for somebody who is new to the brand? Which product one should try for sure?

I would start with the basic products like shower oils, enriched with essentials the product is available in several scents. I would also suggest trying the Body Scrub, this is a must-have in my eyes. Based on Dead Sea Salt and enriched with nourishing oil, it not only peels of the old skin cells but also nourishes the skin. And I wouldn’t miss our Body Lotions, depending on what your skin needs and which scent you prefer it’s definitely a must-try.

You are probably traveling a lot. Which products you would never leave without?

If I could I would probably take everything with me. But if you look into travel beauty bag I’m always carrying our Hand Sanitizer, our Hand Creme and SABON Lip Gloss. After a long flight lip gloss is perfect to refresh you make up. Body Mist is also a staple to my travel bag. It’s way lighter than a perfume and you instantly feel refreshed after using it.

Now in the hotter season there are also some things that you better shouldn’t do in terms of body care. What is your No-Go?

I wouldn’t use heavy and butter based products in summer months. During summer I love our Sorbet, it’s water based and it nourishes the skin without leaving a greasy layer on it. My tip simply keep one jar in the fridge and use it after shower for an additional refreshment.

Which products would you call a must-have?

Our Aroma Diffuser are great! If you fall in love with one scent it’s a great way to bring coziness and warmth to your home. And also the Fruit Polisher, from our Facial Line is a must-have it leaves your skin so soft and polished.

And as my last question, is there any secret tip or trick you would share with me?

Sure, there is one. If you have an event, big party or something special coming up try this combination. First peel you skin with the Polisher and use afterwards the Mud Mask. You skin will be looking nicer, fresher and will be glowing. When I do this treatment my friends always ask me if I “did” something, well yes I just used this two products.

Dear Ifat thank you so much for your time!

A tip from my side. If you have friends, who are expecting a baby or just became parents, take a look at their Mom and Baby Collection. The gift sets with great skin care and basics, like pretty toys and snuggle blankets are a perfect present for both newborn and mom.
